  To put it kindly, there'd never be a gathering of gourmands in Bristol, VA.  With that said, one can choose from a variety of chain restaurants in the vicinity.  We picked Golden Corral.
  
  This Golden Corral is somewhat dingier than what we have in my area of GA -- but here -- the surprising part:  the food was by and large good.  Steak (something I rarely eat) was cooked as requested: tender, flavorful -- much better than one would expect at Golden Corral! Fried chicken was juicy, roast beef good quality .... yeah, well worth 12.99.  (We get a dollar off as seniors!)
  
  The salad bar was missing field greens and some other accoutrements, but the patrons I saw, didn't seem to mind.  My baked potato appeared to be sitting there for quite awhile -- mushy skin and somewhat brown flesh -- but with all the other options, it didn't matter.
  
  Saturday night was a hotbed of locals, all seemingly enjoying themselves.  If all-you-can-eat buffets are your thing, you'll like Golden Corral.

  This location deserves a solid 5-star review because over numerous visits (we travel regularly from Louisiana to New England) it has greatly exceeded any expectation one could reasonably place on a Golden Corral.  The restaurant is clean, bright and well-maintained.  The food is fresh, flavorful and well-seasoned; not just by buffet standards.  Service is uniformly and sincerely friendly.  
  
  It all starts at the top.  The affable, white-shirted franchise owner is always right there on the front lines. He has a clear vision for his business, obsesses over the details, and works side by side with his equally dedicated staff to maintain quality and please each customer.
  
  Chances are if you frequent Golden Corrals, you don't need a Yelp review, just a smartphone map.  The Bristol GC is special however; a model not only for other Golden Corrals but for any restaurant.

  I've been to several Golden Corral restaraunts around the country. This was one of, if not, the cleanest I've eaten at. The food was better than expected for this chain. The staff was very friendly and we were greeted with smiles. Our waitress was timely and friendly. Overall a good experience when compared to other Golden Corral restaraunts.

  The food that we had was delicious. I had steak, baked potato and broccoli salad.
  
  The steak was tasty, it had a little grisle in it, but it was mostly tender, juicy and seasoned well. The baked potato was perfect, not overdone, as is the case when they sit in a warming bin for a while.
  
  The broccoli salad was absolutely divine! Perfect in every way. The prices for the buffet were somewhat overpriced, but the selection was tremendous.
  
  Waitress was very nice, but  little slow.
